This superb 1:43rd scale model of Carroll Shelby's Maserati T61 Birdcage created by super-modeller 'Steve Barnett' was recently judged to be the outright winner of the First Official International Competition and Census of Maserati Models. This prestigious event, organised by Signora Pamela Guarnieri on behalf of Maserati, was held at the Palazzo Re Enzo, adjacent to the Piazza Maggiore, Bologna, in October. To have been adjudged the outright winner from the many hundreds of high quality entries was indeed a major achievement partiticularly when you consider the oposition. Steve's model was awarded the 'Quattroutine Trophy' - a large silver vase inscribed with a Maserati motif - by Sig. Antonio Ghini of Ferrari/Maserati in front of an international audience - and accepted on his behalf by Sig. Walter Gualdrini author of the book Miniature Maseratiand now the Italian Club President. The Maserati Club of the UK have offered Stephen their heartiest congratulations - writes ___________? __________?) to which we at 'Four Small Wheels' and 'Gran Prix Models' would like to add ours. (I wonder who wrote this Magazine article? The reason I've included this image is; If you're going to collect models - collect the best, they are a future investment, inflation proof - particularly when limited editions, like the one pictured). Uncle Enrico has a series of articles on models and Master Model Makers under the title of 'Tridente Modelli' well worth checking out, I know I wrote them! (*an invaluable ref. source for the serious collector)
